The words "Vegan","organic" and "Wine Pairing" engender frou-frou and bourgeois ideas that we at SpoonMe are regularly at odds with in that we don't consider our work anything but good food that is accessible to anyone with a mouth, which counts for most of us. This weekend just past, we stepped outside our comfort zone put on our collars and created a menu to delight even the most discerning of food critics from high society or hipster gastro-culinary cuisine.
Vineworks, a wine importing resto-lounge in 합정 (Hapjeong) played host to 3 food vendors that created vegan dishes for an adventurous crowd of diners Saturday afternoon.
3 delicious dishes were provided by Cafe Morococo, SpoonMe, and an assortment of decadent desserts were provided by Huggers.
Wahid from Casablanca/Morococo was unable to attend the event so Karen sat in to serve and inform the guests what exactly it was they were enjoying so much! Morococo's 3 dishes "Bakoula" "Taktouka" and "Zaalouk" were so tasty, one of the guests was overheard commenting that it was "Too flavourful" if there is such a thing!
We at SpoonMe prepared Jamaican Jerk Jackfruit sliders with a mango coleslaw to take the edge off the spicy jerk marinade, a coconut ceviché and a vegan tartar topped with olive moussé. Finger foods are not our specialty, but we rose to the occasion with some help from our staff to make all parts from scratch including the crackers that bedded the tartar and the buns for our jerk jack sliders!
As always, a big hit were the assortment of vegan desserts provided by Huggers. This event was very informative for all guests, we were enlightened to the use of coconut oil and xanthan gum to bind their rich ingredients together.
A special thanks goes out to SoulOfSeoul for organizing this fantastic event that introduced us all to previous customers and new faces alike on what was a beautiful fall afternoon.
Thanks for stopping by, we look forward to seeing you at our next event!
