Goodbye Babione

Goodbye Babione

Goodbye Babione

January 4, 2013 - December 31, 2017

I find it sad to say that I began eating at Babione on December 20th, 2017. I'd heard about it quite a while ago but never looked into where it was exactly. Had I known it were so close I'd likely have had Babione in the rotation for years! I love to eat Korean as much as the next Canadian and a problem I find out here with great regularity is that there are meat products in everything. To have a Korean restaurant that made such great food consciously vegan was wonderful. Babione, you will be missed.

December 20th, discovery

December 30th, disappointment

Our first night there we had a 'sausaage' kimchi stew (채식 부대찌개), and a wild vegetable and soft tofu soup (산나물 연두부탕).  Of course we sprung for the fried mandu as well ^^

On our second venture we needed two tables. One for the Red Pepper Bean Bulgogi and Glass Noodle dish with Stir Fried Mushrooms (콩불고기 고추장 버섯잡채) and its side dishes. The other for the Wild Vegetable Bibimbap (산나물 비빔밥) and each of our own personal plates of fried mandu ^^

In hindsight it may be a good thing that Babione has closed.  I'll only have fond memories, and I won't find myself anywhere near the Daiso that carries the import Oreos without milk products (Korean Oreos aren't vegan! (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻)
