Celebrities making Veganism mainstream
“Going vegan” was predicted to be the biggest trend of 2018.
The continued proliferation of vegan celebrities has only heightened awareness and popularity of this now “cool” and mainstream lifestyle. Why? Because celebrities are incredibly influential, especially among young people.
They can use their star power to reach those that us “normal” vegans can’t. Along with well known long-term vegans like Pamela Anderson, Joaquin Phoenix, and Alicia Silverstone, there are more and more celebs joining the club all the time. So, who are they? We’ve highlighted a few, take a look ~
This incredible athlete took a hit to her career when her autoimmune disease and joint pain made it impossible for her to compete properly. Switching to not only vegan but raw vegan, she attributes this drastic diet change to her maintaining her performance on the court.
This Hollywood actress has been a long time veggie advocate but recently has been gaining quite a bit of exposure with her latest film project, Eating Animals. In this film, she hopes to expose factory farming industries and gently wake up consumers to what they are really putting in their bodies. She also tries to dispel any vegan misconceptions, like all we eat is lettuce(my favourite^^), has become what you might call, a vegan ambassador, and happily shares her recipes along the way.
Championing the environmental benefits, he also boldly states that veganism improves everything from your health to your sex life. After going cold turkey for 21 days, he never looked back. His documentary “Game Changers”, (coming out this fall) not only focuses on health benefits but tackles the many facets of how a plant-based lifestyle can benefit us all.
Peter Dinklage (GOT)
Probably the most famous GOT actor! Vegetarian for years, he recently made the switch to vegan. He advocates for people to stop eating meat for ethical reasons and swaps fake meats and tofu in for every scene he’s supposed to be eating meat! Who knew? Also a spokesperson for PETA and Farm Sanctuary, he is lending his familiar face to a few very important and influential organizations.
Whether you are considering a vegan diet, or just want to eat a more plant-based diet, you will probably find some inspiration, ideas, and knowledge from the coverage of vegan celebrities lifestyles. You may not decide to become a full on vegan ambassador, but you will probably at least want to try one of their very Instagrammable recipes 🙂
